Grady Price Blount and Don Pugh called the meeting to order at 10:05 AM in the Special Collections Room of the Bell Library on the campus of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

Copies of the agenda were distributed to all present. Active members were asked to verify their contact information. Grady invited each person present to introduce themselves and their Texas ancestors.

Don Pugh made some opening remarks and then opened the floor to election of a temporary officers to serve through December 31, 2002. The following slate of officers was nominated and elected by acclimation:

President: Grady Price Blount

Vice-President: Dan Byerly

Treasurer/Secretary: Tom Gomez, Jr.

This group shall constitute our Executive Committee for the purpose of organizing our re-chartering ceremony which is tentatively slated for January or February of 2003.

Dr Kreneck gave a lively and entertaining talk on the life of our chapter namesake, Henry Lawrence Kinney. In this talk he noted that Kinney was buried in an unmarked grave after being shot to death in Matamoras, Mexico in 1862. There was some discussion afterwards about making a chapter project out of creating a gravesite for him here in Corpus Christi. Skip Kennedy followed up on this idea and there was a suggestion to have a field trip to Matamoras.

Carolyn Baker described the local DRT meeting schedule and discussion was opened on when we should hold our initial meetings. It was agreed that we will meet on the first Saturday of each month, from October through May, at 10 AM. Grady will find a location for the November 2, 2002 meeting.

The Executive Committee met briefly to collect donations and to discuss establishment of a bank account. Don and Carolyn met with four prospective new members and explained the procedures for filing of applications for membership.
